At 1st Thaxted-Carver Scout Group, we prepare young people with skills for life. You can learn survival skills, first aid, cooking and enjoy outdoor activities. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. There’s something for every young person, we provide a wide range of activities for boys and girls aged 6 to 14.

We’re talking about teamwork, leadership and resilience – skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians. We help young people develop and improve key life skills.

We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.

We currently have two Beaver colonies, two Cub Packs and two Scout Troops, who meet weekly at either our Thaxted Locations or our Carver Barracks Hub in Wimbish. More information on each of the groups can be found under each section.

We currently have over 120 young people who enjoy our exciting, challenging and stimulating activities weekly. This has a positive impact on their lives. Every young person in Scouting enjoys a balanced range of activities, events and experiences, based around subject areas we call Programme Zones. These cover a huge range of activities, from outdoor and physical pursuits to community involvement, creative expression and learning about the wider world.
