The Cub Section is the second section of the Scouting Movement for young people aged 8- 10½. We run two separate packs to cater for young people. Thaxted Cubs meet on Tuesday evenings 6.30pm- 8pm and Carver Cubs meet on Thursday evenings 6.15pm-7.30pm.

Cubs are easily recognised in their distinctive green sweatshirts Cub Scouts enjoy a host of fun activities. There are many opportunities to get stuck in with all the fun. In the warmer months, Thaxted Recreation ground and the Barracks airfield are perfect for our needs. We are out and about learning new skills like archery, building fires, camping, camp cooking and den building.

We offer a wide range of activities and opportunities including, kayaking,
camping trips, jailbreak and fundraising events. We normally run around 2-3 camps a year which often involve 2 nights away. There are lots of badges to be gained which adds to the excitement of completing the requirements, earning self-belief, confidence and being proud when they complete them.

In the winter when the weather is cold and wet, we will be indoors. Although we are indoors, we still have fun, play lots of games and do lots of badge work which cannot be completed outdoors.

We are always looking for parent help on evenings and activities so if you would like to get involved as a helper or even becoming a Leader then please get in touch online or speak to Rory or Steve.

But Where Do We Put Our Badges?
